KOTA KINABALU: A worker robbed a coffee shop of about RM17,000 in salaries meant for the employees here last Saturday, but was caught yesterday, according to police.
Kota Kinabalu Police chief ACP M. Chandra said today the worker, who had been absent from work for several days, turned up at the Kedai Kopi Wah Jie in Jalan Lintas Pendek, Lintas Jaya, at about 5.30pm on Saturday as the owner was preparing to pay the workers.
As the worker had not turned up for work for several days, the owner had decided that his salary would be paid the following day, he said in a statement.
Chandra said the worker, who had brought along some friends, became angry when he heard that and tied the owner to a chair while the owner's friend grappled with him.
The worker and his friends fled with the money, but he was arrested in Lintas Jaya at about 4pm yesterday, he added. – Bernama
