KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin denied saying "hijab" should be mandatory for all stewardesses.
"I never said it should be mandatory for all stewardesses to cover up, I suggested that the stewardesses should be given the freedom to choose if they want to wear the "hijab" or not.
The stewardesses should be given the option to cover up, if they want to," he said today at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa after joining a Zumba session organised by Era FM as part of the #FitMalaysia campaign.
He was commenting on his suggestion, published in news reports, that Malaysia Airlines (MAS) stewardesses should be allowed to wear the "hijab" which drew criticism from some quarters.
