KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit extended losses to the third consecutive trading day against the US dollar today, with the greenback becoming more attractive to investors, dealers said.
At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.1766/1786 to the US dollar from 3.1510/1530 on Friday. A dealer said the greenback took advantage of thin conditions to overcome an options barrier and rise to its highest level since January against the yen today.
Meanwhile, the local unit was traded mixed against other major currencies. The ringgit increased against the yen to 3.0285/0316 from Friday's 3.0324/0349, but declined against the euro to 4.1664/1697 from 4.1527/1560.
Against the British pound, it depreciated to 5.2535/2584 from 5.2300/2337 on Friday and fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.5338/5372 from 2.5256/5277. –Bernama
