SHAH ALAM: Flight MH17 pilot Captain Wan Amran Wan Hussin was a philanthropist who made monthly contributions to an orphanage for HIV children in Bukit Krayung, Kapar.
According to the chairman of Positive Shuttle Home, Mohammad Fakhrul Abdul Kadir, Wan Amran never missed an opportunity to help out the home.
"He has contributed much to our home on a monthly basis since we first knew him four years ago, be it monetary contributions or supplies," said Mohammad Fakhrul.
"We usually communicate with members through our Whatsapp group, where we will inform them of the kind of aid that we might need.
"He was always there when we needed him," he told reporters when met at the Seksyen 21 muslim cemetery here.
Mohammad Fakhrul said the last time Wan Amran made a contribution was in June this year, a month before flight MH17 was shot down on July 17 while flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
"It was already his time to go, we will accept this fate with an open heart," he said.
