Bali district on alert against ISIS infiltration

DENPASAR: The Karangasem district government in Bali is working with all organisations and religious institutions to anticipate possible infiltration of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)'s ideology, Indonesia's Antara news agency reported.
Government spokesman I. Putu Arawa on Tuesday called on the public sector in the district to jointly counter the ISIS movement in Indonesia particularly in Karangasem district.
All religious organisations and public elements in the district have signed a statement rejecting the presence of the ISIS movement in Karangasem and the country.
Head of National Counter-terrorism Agency (BNPT) retired Inspector Gen. Ansyaad Mbai on Monday urged people around the country to remain alert against the presence of the organisation that embraces a radical ideology.
"There is no nation, religion or community that requires the presence of ISIS," said Ansyaad from Kendari, southeast Sulawesi on Monday.
He warned ISIS has the potential to develop its base in certain pockets in Indonesia, and urged community organisations, scholars and religious leaders to prevent the spread of its ideology in the country.
"The BNPT has established partnerships with several universities especially with Islamic universities in Indonesia," he said. – Bernama
