Man detained over stolen luxury cars

IPOH: Police have arrested a 41-year-old man with seven previous convictions on Sept 3 and recovered three stolen luxury vehicles worth more than RM1 million.
Perak CID chief Datuk Mohd Dzuaridi Ibrahim said the suspect is believed to be the middleman who kept the stolen cars before handing them to others to be smuggled into a neighbouring country.
The suspect's previous convictions were under the Emergency (Public Order and Crime Prevention) Ordinance, drug related offences and vehicle theft.
Police made the breakthrough when a team raided a house in Pengkalan Indah here and picked up the man.
They seized a BMW with false registration number plates worth RM240,000, which was reported stolen in Puchong.
A Toyota Land Cruiser valued at RM500,000, reported stolen in Kepong, was also recovered.
Further investigations led police to Jalan Seenivasagam here, where they recovered a Lexus car worth RM300,000, which was reported stolen in Pasir Puteh.
