Gerakan hopes to do well in Penang in next GE

GEORGE TOWN : Gerakan is confident of doing well in the next General Election in Penang by fielding its winnable candidates.
Its president Datuk Mah Siew Keong said the party will not only field its best candidates but also those with strong personality to ensure victory for the party.
He said they have been working hard the past two years to regain the people's confidence in the party while having its strategies to provide a check and balance on the current DAP-led government.
Speaking to reporters in a press conference before the start of the state delegates conference at the party's headquarters in Jalan Macalister today, Mah who was accompanied by state Gerakan chairman Teng Chang Yeow and several state party delegates including former party president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said, they would also train some young people to become possible candidates for the state seats.
In the last general election,, Gerakan performed badly with it not winning any seats.
Mah, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said he was keen on Gerakan performing better in the next general election although no target has been set.
He said the party will explain to the people the current political situation and also for them to know that Penang is the hub for Gerakan.
On the party's internal problems, the Teluk Intan MP, said every party has its own squabbles but that of Gerakan is not serious.
Mah assured that he will work with all the state leaders and delegates to ensure the best services is given to the Rakyat.
