Ex-Umno man claims trial to trespassing

GEORGE TOWN: A former Kampung Rawana Umno branch youth chief was charged at the magistrate's court today for trespassing into the Penang state legislative assembly building in May.
Wan Norazman Ariffin, 41, pleaded not guilty to trespassing into the building, allegedly with the intention of intimidating state legislative assembly secretary M. Maheswari at about 1.30pm on May 21.
He claimed trial to the offence, in a case where 15 others have also been earlier charged in court.
The offence under the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of three years or a fine of up to RM5,000 or both.
Magistrate L. Umma Devi set bail at RM2,000 in one surety and fixed Sept 29 for mention of the case with the other 15, who had also claimed trial.
Wan Norazman was represented by Rosli Ismail, Yusnita Yusof and Norhadi Haron while DPP Siti Fatimah Talib prosecuted.
