IPOH: A 38-year-old woman is hoping that she will be reunited with her nine-year-old son who she had not seen for eight months after he was reportedly abducted and kept in her husband's custody in Pakistan.
Zarena Bibi Omar Din, a civil servant here, said: " I want my son back; he is an innocent. I hope the authorities will take the necessary action to bring my son to Malaysia."
She has approached the Perak Barisan Nasional Public Service and Complaints Centre here for assistance.
Zarena Bibi married Mohammad Talib Abdur Rauf, a Pakistani with American citizenship on July 24, 2004 in Ipoh and had a son, Ziad.
Her ordeal started when she and her son were asked by Mohammad Talib to follow him to his hometown in Mansehra on Jan 31, this year.
"Upon arrival at his house, he told me that his intention to bring me and my son to Pakistan was to abduct us," she told reporters here today.
"I was stunned and even more shocking was that he said I will be killed if I fight back.. my son was then separated from me."
According to Zarena Bibi, who is in the process of going through a divorce, her husband forced her to sign documents to transfer her house in Sunway City, a Perodua Kembara and RM18,000 allegedly to a local woman in Ipoh.
On March 8, she received a call from the woman who gave an assurance that RM200,000 had been given to her husband for her release.
However the money was not paid.
Two days later she flew back to Malaysia alone and lodged reports with police, Wisma Putra and Interpol.
Zarena Bibi noted that her son had become an illegal in Pakistan as his visa had expired on April 22, 2014.
Meanwhile, the centre's head, Mohd Rawi Abdullah, said they would write to police, Interpol and Wisma Putra to locate the boy as soon as possible and bring him back to the country.
