KUALA LUMPUR : A body of baby boy believed to be just weeks old was found dumped in a monsoon drain at Taman Wilayah on Monday.
Several workers carrying out grass cutting by the road shoulder made the grisly find at about 10.30am.
Sentul police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the child whose umbilical cord was still intact though it was weeks old was clad in pink clothing.
He said a comprehensive post mortem report is underway to determine the cause of death.
He urged those with information of the child's parents to contact the Sentul CID.
This is the second reported case of baby dumping this week.
On Monday, Bernama reported the discovery of a body of a baby boy with his umbilical cord still attached, at a landfill in Tanjung Merit, Mersing.
Mersing police chief, DSP Zulkepli Hashim had said an Orang Asli scavenging through the garbage found the body at 9.30am.
"The body was found wrapped with newspaper in a plastic bag," he reportedly said.
Based on the condition of the body Zulkepli did not rule out the possibility that the baby was dumped at the site quite recently.
So far, no arrest has been made in connection with the discovery.
The body was sent to Mersing Hospital and the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth.
Police urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Johor police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.
