BESUT: The Terengganu state government will invest a total of RM350,000 to create a cooperative and collection centre for "Jom Menanam" products in each of the state's seven parliamentary constituencies this year.
Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Plantation Industry and Commodities committee chairman Nawi Mohamad, who is also Hulu Besut state assemblyman, said the government has invested about RM1 million for the Jom Menanam farming project which has some 2,000 participants in each parliamentary constituency.
"Next year we will implement the project's second phase, but for now we are focusing on chicken rearing and catfish culture," he said, adding harvests from the participants' farms, averaging half to one hectare, are expected in October. – Bernama
