KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad's rail and bus service subsidiary RapidKL made it into the Malaysia Book of Records today for launching the country's first bus driving simulator.
The "Dynamic Simulator Bus" facility allow trainers to bring a virtual bus into the classroom, thereby helping drivers learn faster as it incorporates all possible real-time scenarios.
This initiative will boost the skills, confidence and responsiveness of bus drivers as it can simulate vehicle mechanism, engine behaviour, vehicle dynamics, gear ratio, torque and generate situations in parallel with graphic scenes, sound effects and the trainee's control.
"With the simulators, we would be taking our training programme to new levels and expedite the learning process. We can work on route familiarisation and conduct defensive driving modules, especially simulations on rainy days," said Prasarana Group bus division director Datuk Zohari Sulaiman.
He added that the simulators would save overhead costs like fuel as they would not need to use real buses for training.
The simulators include three driving stations, seven static stations and two instructor monitoring stations that will be used to monitor students' progress.
