PUTRAJAYA: Action will be taken against any individual or organisation found guilty of participating in any terrorist-funding activities, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
In the wake of a report by an Australia newspaper that some RM110,300 was transferred to an unnamed Malaysian by an Australian money-remitting agency, Ahmad Zahid said police had started investigating the matter even before the news was published.
"We in fact were alerted by Australian authorities before the news was published, hence we are working with Interpol and other international intelligence agencies to ascertain the validity of the report.
"If the information is proven to be true, then we will leave it to Australian authorities for further action," he said at a press conference at his office today after receiving a courtesy visit from Palestinian police chief Maj-Gen Hazim Attallah.
Ahmad Zahid assured his Australian counterparts and other parties that the Malaysian government will not compromise by allowing any funding activities to any individual or organisation that seeks to create terrorism.
