UPSR leaks: Two more teachers nabbed in Kedah

    KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained two male teachers today over the "leaks" in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) for Science and English, bringing the number of arrests to 14.
    Kuala Lumpur CID chief, SAC Gan Kong Meng said the teachers, aged 48 and 51, were detained in Bedong, Kedah at 5pm to help in investigations.
    "To date, 14 people have been detained, comprising 12 teachers, an insurance agent and an engineer," he said in a statement here, today.
    Police also seized communication gadgets from the teachers.
    Twenty-two individuals including six officers of the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (LPM), a journalist, an insurance agent, an engineer and 13 teachers have had their statements recorded.
    Yesterday, a female teacher aged 26 was detained in Labis, Johor, while a male teacher aged 31 was detained in Nilai, Negri Sembilan; they have been remanded for four days.
    Following the leaks, the English papers, 014/1 and 014/2 which the pupils had sat for on Thursday, were cancelled.
    The examination for the Science papers, 018, 028 and 038, which the pupils were to sit on the same day was also postponed.
    The LPM fixed Sept 30 as the new date of examination for both the papers. – Bernama
