IPOH: A sister of a passenger on board the ill fated Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 will leave it to the authorities to bring the culprits to justice even if it may take a long time.
"It can go on as long as it takes but we want justice," said Noorlin Mohd Noor, 47, the youngest sibling of Noor Rahimmah, 67, who had resided in Geneva with her family.
"Although it has been a month since we buried the remains of our sister but the memory still lives on," she told reporters after her brother, Mohd Amin, 50, received a cheque from the state government at their family house in Taman Tanjung Emas here today.
It was presented by Hulu Kinta assemblyman Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah but the amount was not disclosed.
Noorlin, who described Noor Rahimmah's as a "motherly" figure, said they visited her grave in Tambun almost daily.
When asked on the offer of a reward for those responsible for the tragedy, she said: " It is a good move as long as the people responsible are held for the deaths (of those on board MH17)."
She said they have not received anything of her sister's personal belongings, "but it is not important as we were able to receive her remains and buried them here".
Aminuddin said the state government had approved an allocation for the affected families to be distributed through the respective elected representatives.
The families could also request for any assistance from the state government.
