Moderate earthquake hits Papua New Guinea

    KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 11.38am today in the New Britain region of Papua New Guinea, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported.
    It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 80km southwest of Kimbe, Papua New Guinea, and 3,642km southeast of Semporna, Sabah. No tsunami threat was reported, it added. – Bernama
