VCD dealer dies of multiple stab wounds

KUANTAN: A video compact disc dealer died when he was stabbed several times on the chest and body in front of the Paragon restaurant in Jalan Haji Ahmad 6, here around midnight.
The victim, Thong Kong Wai, 39, from Tapah, Perak, succumbed to his injuries after he was stabbed nine times.
Pahang police chief Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said the victim and his two friends were walking towards their car after dinner at the restaurant at about 12.30pm.
"As they were walking to the car, which was about 20m away, a man suddenly came from behind and attacked the victim.
"The suspect stabbed the victim several times in the chest and body before fleeing," he said when contacted here today.
He said after the suspect left, his friends immediately contacted the police for help but the victim was confirmed dead when the ambulance arrived.
"So far police have not found the weapon allegedly used by the suspect and the motive of the incident is still being investigated," he said.
Sharifuddin said the body was later sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for a post mortem this morning.
He said police are tracking the suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
