Five detained in connection with explosion at Bukit Bintang

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested five suspects on Wednesday in connection with the hand grenade explosion case in front of a night club at Sun Complex in Jalan Bukit Bintang here last week.
"Let the police investigate the suspects first before we can reveal information about them," Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters after the launch of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) auxiliary police in Gombak.
He said the suspects, from the Klang Valley aged between 25 and 46 years, were picked up in the Dang Wangi area in separate raids at about 6pm. They have been remanded until Monday .
Police have also recorded statements from 20 individuals to assist in the investigations.
Khalid said investigations were still being conducted and more people would be called up to give their statements.
Police also expect to get the full CCTV recordings from the scene soon.
Meanwhile, 99 security personnel from the university have been absorbed into its auxiliary police team.
