Cop claims trial to asking, taking bribes

JOHOR BARU: A policeman claimed trial in the Sessions Court here today to soliciting and receiving RM900 from three men.
Corporal Roslan Ariffin, 46, is accused on three charges of demanding RM300 each, from the men, as an inducement to release them from detention on suspicion of consuming drugs.
He is accused on another three charges of receiving a total of RM900 to secure their release.
Roslan allegedly committed the offences at the Sri Lalang police station near Kluang, where he is based, between 4.30 pm and 11 pm on January 1, 2014.
Judge Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz set bail at 10,000 with one surety, and Nov 17 for re mention.
Prosecuting officer Rizduan Malik represented the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission in the case. – Bernama
