Sieh: OCM firm on doping involving national athletes

KUALA LUMPUR: The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) will take firm action against any athlete confirmed positive in doping tests regardless of the individual involved, said OCM secretary-general, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi.
He said OCM had the authority to block the athlete from taking part in major sporting events such as the Olympics.
"I cannot mention the name of the athlete involved as the matter has not been officially conveyed to OCM.
"I hope the national sports association concerned will be wise in solving the problem and they need to wait for the results of sample B first. The tests on sample B (of the athlete concerned) is being conducted at a laboratory in Norway and the results will only be known in about two weeks," he told Bernama today.
Local media today reported that a national athlete allegedly tested positive for drugs in his sample A, in a random urine test during the BWF World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark in August.
"There is nothing OCM or the association can do now as it is out of OCM's jurisdiction," Sieh added. – Bernama
