Ringgit rises against US dollar
KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended higher for the second consecutive day against the US dollar today following China's better-than-expected economic growth in the third quarter, a dealer said.
The world's second-largest economy, China, economy expanded 7.3% in the third quarter from a year ago, she said. The local market will be closed tommorow for Deepavali holiday.
At the close, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2615/2635 against the greenback compared with 3.2710/2730 on Monday. The local unit was also mostly higher against other major currencies.
It was higher against the Singapore dollar at 2.5687/5717 from Monday's 2.5689/5711. It eased against the yen to 3.0604/0626 from 3.0556/0589 yesterday.
The ringgit strengthened against the British pound at 5.2706/2751 from 5.2715/2761 on Monday and depreciated against the euro to 4.1832/2867 from 4.1722/2754 yesterday. – Bernama
