Najib makes congratulatory call to Modi

    PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today made a personal telephone call to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his office here. During the 15-minute conversation, he congratulated Modi for winning two state elections, in Maharashtra and Haryana, recently.
    At the same time, the Prime Minister also extended an invitation to Modi to make an official visit to Malaysia next year.
    Najib also mentioned to Modi that the Hindus in Malaysia will be celebrating Deepavali or the Festival of Lights tomorrow wishing Modi and his people a happy Festival of Lights Celebration.
    Modi on the other hand extended his condolences to Najib over the MH370 and MH17 tragedies.
    Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH370 disappeared from radar screens on March 8 as it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The Boeing 777 aircraft has yet to be found.
    MAS Flight MH17 carrying 298 passengers and crew had crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 while en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam. It is believed to have been shot down by a missile over the troubled country. – Bernama
