BUTTERWORTH: Taman Pauh residents here today voiced their concerns over the environmental impact coming from a nearby high rise project.
Parliamentary Village Development and Security Committee (JKKKP) chairman Mohd Hassan Mohammad said residents are worried work to connect sewerage pipes from the project to a treatment plant could disrupt their daily lives.
He also claimed the treatment plant nearby was already operating at capacity and could not take the additional load.
"There is often overflow of water from the drainage system with the water being black in colour and foul smelling," he said in a press conference after a rally today.
The high rise project consists of two blocks of 27-storey condominiums with a total of 128 residential units.
Mohd Hassan also questioned how a condominium did not have its own sewerage treatment facility, adding that residents were in the dark about the matter.
