PORT KLANG: The Selangor state government will bear the cost of repairs for about 30 houses damaged in Tuesday's freak storm.
Selangor Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said he is waiting for Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to finalise a report on the incident, which will be discussed at the next exco meeting.
The state government will also look at additional assistance for the owners of the damaged houses.
"Repairs on five blocks of flats, which is under PKNS, have started and is expected to be completed by Friday. However, the rest of the blocks which are owned by JMB need financial assistance from the state before repair works can start," Azmin said.
Azmin also visited the Kampung Pandamaran fishermen's jetty, which was badly damaged by the storm.
"We will look into ways to fix this problem that involves the income of the people here," Azmin said.
According to a Malaysian Meteorological Department (Weather and Climate) spokesman, more thunderstorms are expected in the area until next month. Weather updates can be obtained from the department website www.met.gov.my and MetMalaysia social media page or via their hotline 1-300-22-1638.
