SEBERANG JAYA: PKR de facto head Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is steeling himself to face prison life, if he loses his sodomy appeal at the Federal Court next week
The Parliamentary opposition leader said he was preparing on what to do in jail if the result went against him.
He said he was reading the Quran for spiritual nourishment as well as coming up with a list of books to read if he is sent to jail.
"I have told my wife I should do this even though she refuses to contemplate such an outcome," he told a 3,000-odd strong crowd during a "Rakyat Hakim Negara" ceramah on Wednesday night.
The fate of Anwar hangs in the balance as the Apex Court will hear on Oct 28 and 29 his appeal against his conviction for sodomy.
In March the appellate court found him guilty of sodomising a former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, at a unit of the Desa Damansara condominiums in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, between 3.10pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.
He was granted a stay pending an appeal to the Federal Court with a RM10,000 bail in one surety.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, PAS deputy president Mohammad Sabu and Penang PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusoff Rawa also spoke at the ceramah.
