Two friends reported missing involved in road accident

    TAPAH: A car with two occupants plunged into a 6m deep ravine with one of them dead in the incident at Km62.8 of along the Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur trunk road near Tanah Mas here on Sunday.
    The deceased identified as passenger R. Thiyagarajan, 34, from Taman Tapah Baru, was found trapped in the wreckage only on Wednesday.
    Earlier the Bidor Fire and Rescue Department received a call from a member of the public about the incident at 4.50pm on Wednesday.
    Firemen rushed to the scene and found the car and the deceased in the vehicle who had died four days earlier.
    Tapah district police chief Supt Som Sak Din Keliaw said the car travelling to Bidor from Tapah had skidded while negotiating a corner before it plunged into the ravine at about 3am on Sunday.
    The driver identified as A. Nicholas Andrew, 33, from Taman Tapah Baru sustained a broken arm and leg after he was thrown out of the vehicle on the impact of the crash.
    Som Sak said Nicholas was unconscious for three days before he crawled along a river to a oil palm estate before seeking assistance from orang asli.
    While being treated at the hospital he informed that his friend was also in the car.
    Firemen then scoured the area and found the passenger pinned in the wreckage.
