JOHOR BARU: The woman who ran allegedly amok with a samurai sword-wielding man outside the Prime Minister's Department's B Complex on July 9, 2012, this morning escaped from the Sultanah Aminah Hospital where she had given birth to a baby boy on Tuesday.
Muhdalena Ahmad, 30, of Seri Kembangan, Selangor, who was admitted to the hospital on Oct 19, was found missing at 9am.
She was last seen wearing a pink hospital gown.
Johor CID chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan in a statement said police have launched a manhunt for the woman, who is a detainee at the Permai Hospital, Tampoi.
She left her baby at the hospital.
She remained at large at press time.
In July 2012, Muhdalena and Khalil Afendi Abd Hamid allegedly ran amok in the compound of the Prime Minister's Department, wielding samurai swords.
They were shot by a police officer. Khalil later died from his injuries.
Muhdalena, a graduate from International Islamic University, was charged at the Putrajaya Hospital, where she was warded with a gunshot wound in the right thigh, with four charges under the Penal Code, the Corrosive, Explosive and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958, and Protected Areas and Protected Places Act 1959.
In June this year, she was ordered to be kept in safe custody at Hospital Permai, pending orders from the Ruler of the state, after the sessions court ruled that she was of unsound mind at that time.
Muhdalena had reportedly told the sessions court she was hallucinating of being a warrior of the past and had been influenced by Khalil.
Hasnan said those with information on Muhdalena's whereabouts should contact the police at 07-221 2999.
