KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's unemployment rate in August 2014 declined marginally to 2.7% from 2.8% in the previous month, the Statistics Department said.
In a statement on the "Labour Force Statistics Malaysia" today, it said the year-on-year comparison showed a lower unemployment rate of 0.4% point at 3.1% in August 2013.
The labour force participation rate declined to 67.1% in August as compared to 67.4% in the previous month.
"The drop of 0.4% point is a continuation of the decrease of population in the labour market by 0.4%, particularly those from the younger age group of 15-19 years," the department said. – Bernama
