Student suffers broken ribs after alleged assault by seniors

    BALIK PULAU: A Form Two student of the Mara Junior Science College here suffered broken ribs after he is believed to have been assaulted by eight Form Four students in his hostel room last Wednesday, according to police.
    A police spokesman said the student was injured by a hot iron on both his shoulders while his body was stomped on by the seniors in the incident which occurred between 11.45pm and 1am.
    "The warden only knew about the incident the next day and the student was sent home by flight. When he arrived at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, his father took him straight to the hospital in Klang, Selangor, for a check-up," he said here today.
    He said the student was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang as fragments of the rib bones had affected his heart.
    He said the incident occurred after the victim and his friend, a Form Three student, searched the room of the Form Four students to look for the friend's missing shoes.
    Meanwhile, South West District Police chief Supt Lai Fah Hin, when contacted, confirmed receiving a report on the incident from the student's mother this morning.
    He said police had identified the eight students and the case was being investigated under Section 326 and Section 147 of the Penal Code.
    "Police are investigating the case from various angles and the students will be detained to help in the investigation soon," he said. – Bernama
