PUTRAJAYA: The police have installed metal barricades stretching about 500m to separate the supporters of PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his alleged sodomy victim Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan outside the Palace of Justice here.
The Federal Court is hearing Anwar's appeal against the sodomy conviction and sentence. The supporters have been separated to the left and right of the building as a precautionary measure to thwart any undesirable incident.
About 200 supporters of Mohd Saiful who had gathered in front of the Palace of Justice as early as 8am carried banners bearing slogans such as "Hormati Sultan dan Undang-undang" (Respect the Rulers and the Law) and "Justice for Saiful".
Suhaimi Adnan, president of NGO Pertubuhan Suara Inspirasi Malaysia, said Mohd Saiful's supporters were made up of members of several NGOs and the public.
Some of Anwar's supporters also read Surah Yasin verses. The Federal Court is into its second day of hearing submissions in Anwar's appeal against his conviction and five-year jail sentence for having allegedly sodomised Mohd Saiful, his former personal aide. – Bernama
