Penang cops bust drug lab

GEORGE TOWN: Police have busted a drug manufacturing laboratory just six months after it started operations.
Penang narcotics deputy chief DSP Lee King Chuan said they detained a 49-year-old man during the 12.30pm operation at an apartment in Relau on Tuesday and seized RM200,000 worth of drugs as well as drug processing equipment.
"Police seized 202g of ketamine powder, 324g of heroin, 744g of methamphetamine, 35 ecstasy pills, 2,300 eramine pills and two bottle of acid," he told a press conference today.
Lee added they also seized RM3,636, S$100 (RM256.89) and Thai Bhat 6,410 (RM645.84).
He said checks showed the suspect had six previous records for drug related offences while his urine tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine.
The suspect has been remanded until Nov 2 to facilitate investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
