KL shares open higher, tracking Wall Street's gains

    KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened higher in line with regional bourses, after overnight gains on Wall Street. At 9.43am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,844.93 points, 2.15 points better, after opening 1.81 points higher at 1,844.59.
    Among heavyweights, Maybank lost 1.0 sen to RM9.69, Tenaga added 8.0 sen to RM13.18 and Public Bank gained 2.0 sen to RM18.60. Dagang Nexchange, which appreciated 1.0 sen to 38 sen, emerged as the most actively traded stock in early trading session, followed by Flonic Hi-Tech, which added half-a-sen to 6.5 sen.
    Market breadth was positive with winners outpacing losers 351 to 122, while 261 counters were unchanged, 921 untraded and 27 others were suspended. Turnover stood at 551.35 million shares worth RM273.05 million.
    On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index rose 16.74 points to 12,806.01 points, the FBMT100 Index increased 13.56 points to 12,441.58 points and the FBM Emas Shariah Index garnered 19.19 points to 13,247.46 points.
    The FBM 70 added 11.77 points to 14,022.34 points, the Industrial Index bagged 5.67 points to 3,233.87 points and the FBM Ace improved 65.12 points to 6,608.84 points.
    The Finance Index appreciated 14.37 points to 16,805.64 points and the Plantation Index rose 33.12 points to 8,548.19 points.
    The physical price of gold as at 9.30am stood at RM122.79 per gramme, down 31 sen from RM123.10 at 5pm yesterday. – Bernama
