Less supporters as Anwar's hearing enters fourth day
PUTRAJAYA: The number of supporters of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in front of the Palace of Justice here has dwindled as the hearing enters its fourth day.
As of 9.30am, only 40 supporters gathered in the court building area compared to about 50 supporters who turned up yesterday.
However, it did not stop supporters of the opposition leader to shout "free Anwar" and "Reject BN (Barisan Nasional)" in front of the court building.
Their actions did not cause any provocation as policemen stood by to monitor their movements from afar.
About 500 metres of the court area was installed with iron barriers on the left and right side of the building as a measure to prevent untoward incidents.
Today, the prosecution led by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee started his submission to rebut the defence's argument to overturn Anwar's conviction and five years' jail sentence for sodomising his former personal aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
The fine weather around the Palace of Justice changed as rain arrived at 10.54am, causing the supporters to seek shelter in tents put up for the Putrajaya International Islamic Arts and Culture Festival 2014 (PIIACUF). – Bernama
