KOTA KINABALU: The wife of the fish breeder who was abducted in Kampung Sapang Air, Kunak five months ago has appealed to the relevant authorities to help secure the release of her husband as she has been given until November to settle the ransom.
"I cannot wait any longer, time is running out. The kidnappers have been calling me everyday to pay by November or they will kill my husband," Chin Pek Nyen, 42, told reporters today.
Chin from Ipoh, Perak, said the kidnappers had demanded RM3 million to secure the release of her husband, Chan Sai Chiun, 32.
She said since the abduction on June 16, the kidnappers had contacted her more than 200 times, with the last call at 9 last night.
"They are getting annoyed and impatient and they keep calling me everyday to ask if I have the money. I don't know what to reply as the money I have gathered from my relatives is insufficient to bring home my husband," she said.
The kidnappers' decision on RM3 million to be paid up by November was final as they would not reduce the amount any more, she said.
The kidnappers had initially demanded RM15 million and the amount was reduced to RM5 million, she added.
"If there is not enough money raised, I will go to the Philippines and will not be getting any more calls demanding for money. I have no idea of my husband's condition after receiving his last call last July.
"I am very worried thinking of my husband's fate and have not been eating and sleeping well," she said.
Asked on her last conversation with her husband, Chin said her husband did not say much and only urged her to raise the money, adding that, he was always moved from one location to another.

Chin said except for help in negotiation extended by the Kunak police headquarters, no one else had come forward to help solve the case.
The childless couple who have been married for seven years, started the caged-fish breeding business in Kunak in March after living in Sandakan for the past seven years.
In the incident, which occurred at about 12.40am, Chan and a worker identified as Mazlan, in his 20's, were kidnapped by two armed men at the fish breeding centre.
A marine police constable Zakia Aliep was also kidnapped by a group of intruders at a resort in Mabul Island, Semporna since July 12.
Zakia was the fourth victim after the kidnappings at Singamata Adventures Reef and Beach Resort in Semporna, Pulau Baik, Lahad Datu and in Kampung Sapang, Kunak. – Bernama
