MCMC has jurisdiction to block access to online gambling

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will use its expertise and existing laws to take action or block access by the public to gambling websites.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek (pix) said there were certain legal aspects which came under the purview of MCMC's jurisdiction.
"So, these are also the things we want MCMC to look into, study and obtain as much information on websites that involve online gambling which the public can access and if they have a bad effect on our society," he said today.
He told this to reporters at the Terengganu Umno Convention here when asked to comment on the worrying increase in online gambling. – Bernama
