JOHOR BARU: In order to encourage doctors to remain in government service, the state government will introduce a new scheme for government doctors and allow them to offer private services in the same government hospital.

The so-called private wing scheme will be implemented in the Sultanah Aminah Hospital II.

Chairman of State Health & Environment Committee, Datuk Ayob Rahmat said this to the media after officiating at the 7th Southern Dental Congress here today.

He said, he had discussed the proposed private wing scheme concept with Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The Sultanah Aminah Hospital II will be built in the Iskandar Region under the 11th Malaysia Plan, and it will be the pioneer hospital in the state to incorporate the private wing scheme.

Under this scheme, government hospital doctors will be allowed to offer private medical services under the same roof.
Ayob however added that the details of the scheme need to be worked out.
