This year alone, he said, RM 8 million has been successfully raised to provide humanitarian aid in Gaza.
The dinner themed "In Aid of Countries in Crisis" was graced by Mercy Malaysia's new patron, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.
Also present were several members of Mercy Malaysia's board of Trustees, Toh Puan Dr Aishah Ong and Tan Sri Professor Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.
"It is my greatest wish that Mercy Malaysia will keep developing and progressing with strong principles of helping those in crisis and non-crisis situation regardless of their cultural background." said Dr Ahmad Faizal, adding that since its establishment in 1999, the society had carried out humanitarian missions in 28 countries and have reached over 1 million beneficiaries.
"I hope Mercy Malaysia will set an example and inspire others with our approach on the provision of humanitarian aid," Dr Ahmad Faizal added.
"The successes in every mission and achievement in this journey is only made possible with the continuous support from our generous donors, dedicated volunteers and partners," he said.
Dr Faizal added that Mercy Malaysia would like to offer its solidarity for Malaysia Airlines, as despite the tragedies of MH370 and MH17, the airline had continued to raise funds for Mercy Malaysia through its "Change for Charity Fund".
