CIMB Islamic partners INCEIF on Islamic banking studies

    KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Islamic Bank is collaborating with the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) to establish a research centre for Islamic banking studies.
    CIMB Islamic Bank CEO Badlisyah Abdul Ghani said both organisations aim to promote research and product development in all aspects of Islamic banking and finance and to become internationally recognised leading research centre on Islamic finance and banking.
    "We have allocated RM1.5 million (worth of grants) that will be utilised for a three-year period. It shall be be funded by CIMB Islamic while INCEIF will contribute in terms of subject matter, experts on Islamic finance," Badlisyah told reporters after the Memorandum of Understanding between the bank and INCEIF held at the 11th Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum 2014 here yesterday.
    For CIMB Islamic, he said it provides access to the largest pool of researchers on Islamic finance to share industry input on specific issues that focuses on Islamic banking and finance and be involved in the research and its output.
    Badlisyah said the centre will focus on key areas in Islamic banking such as cross border and product harmonisation, setting the benchmark and best practices for Islamic banking industry, new products for financial inclusion, regulatory issues and challenges, money market instruments and risk management.
