India PM congratulates Najib on reforms in governance and economy

NEW DELHI: India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak on the reforms and initiatives taken by Putrajaya in both governance and the economy.
"Malaysia and India have worked together in the past. We can take this much further under your leadership," he said during the bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 25th Asean Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
This is the first time both leaders are meeting. The outcome of the bilateral meeting was tweeted by the Prime Minister's Office's (PMO) India.
Among others, Modi stated Malaysia's work on affordable housing.
"We want every Indian to have a home by 2022. Have seen your companies can work on this area.
"I am giving a lot of emphasis to 'Make in India' and want to invite Malaysian companies to come to India. There are a lot of opportunities," he said.
According to the tweets, Najib also invited Indian companies to look at opportunities in Malaysia.
"Prime Minister Najib invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Malaysia. Prime Minister thanked him and invited Prime Minister of Malaysia to also visit India," said the PMO at the micro blogging site.
Bilateral trade between India and Malaysia stood at US$13.4 billion (RM44.69 billion) in 2013. The target is to touch US$20 billion by 2015. – Bernama
