Canon recently launched five newly upgraded scanning devices from its imageFORMULA range. They are:
• imageFORMULA P-20811,
• imageFORMULA P-21511,
• imageFORMULA DR-C225,
• imageFORMULA DR-C225W; and the
• imageFORMULA DR-M16011.
Improvements include:
1) better document handling for increased productivity,
2) enhanced software for faster document processing,
3) new image processing features for superior scan results and
4) advanced cloud and operating system compatibility for greater flexibility.
Canon business imaging solutions (BIS) director Ooi Chik Hoe said at the launch: "Canon is proud to deliver to business users the latest generation of document scanners with a range of user-centric updates. With enhanced functionality, businesses and end-users will now find it easier to digitise, process and communicate information more efficiently to save time and boost productivity."
Intuitive and efficient
These describe the slim scanning devices of the imageFORMULA DR-C225 and DR-C225W. Uniquely designed to save space, its vertical J-path feeding structure makes these models ideal for small work areas of customer-centric industries like banking and finance. Both come bundled with the new version of the CaptureOnTouch app. The icon-based interface makes the imageFORMULA DR-C225, DR-C225W, P-208II and P-215II more intuitive and efficient for businesses and end-users with its three-step scanning process for ad-hoc tasks.
Images can now be edited immediately after scanning, eliminating the need for re-scans. The new version also features a wider selection of scan-to-cloud connectivity with plug-ins to DropBox, SugarSync and OneDrive. With these models, scanned documents and files can now be sent to multiple destinations.
Easy handling
Portable scanner, the imageFORMULA P-208II and P-215II may be light in weight but both are capable of one-pass duplex scanning and come with re-vamped user-interface. The two models also come with the latest version of CaptureOnTouch Lite of which a key feature would be that the software will automatically launch when the devices are connected to a computer via USB, without the need to install additional software or drivers. The machines also offer optical character recognition (OCR) processing and connectivity to numerous cloud-based applications.
Comprehensive functionality
With enhanced tools and additional modes like Deskew, Skip Blank Page, Auto Size Detection, Auto Colour Detection, Picture Mode and Character Emphasis among other available options, scans are sharp, text is readable and colour is at its optimum for each document or image. The Deskew function even automatically corrects slanted images while Skip Blank Page will omit any blank pages in document sets. With Auto Size Detection, users can fit documents of various sizes in one sitting and have the files automatically adjusted according to size. Auto Colur Detection allows users to feed a mix of colour and black and white documents, saving time to separate these before scanning.
Built for scanning high volumes of documents, the compact yet sturdy imageFORMULA DR-M160II comes bundled with the CapturePerfect software giving users a wide selection of file-saving formats and file distribution options.
Greater compatibility and productivity
Meeting the needs of today's mobile workforce is the imageFORMULA DR-C225W which comes with built-in WiFi connectivity. The machine offers wireless scanning to mobile devices and computers in speeds of up to 50 images per minute (note: scanning speed may vary depending on the environment). Moreover, the DR-M160II departmental scanner is now Mac compatible.
Canon's upgraded range of imageFORMULA scanners are available at Canon authorised outlets and are retailed from RM 999 and above. For more information, visit the Canon webpage.
