Greek ship sailor does not have Ebola

ATHENS: A crew member on a Greek ship coming from Guinea who was thought to be showing symptoms of Ebola does not have the deadly disease, the Greek health ministry said on Tuesday.
A Filipino crew member on the Magda P. cargo ship on its way from Guinea to Ukraine had had a high fever for several days, sparking concern that he may have contracted the deadly virus that has killed more than 5,100 people in west Africa.
But the Greek health ministry's centre for disease prevention told AFP that, following an examination of the sailor, it was determined he was not carrying the virus.
Authorities did not say whether the sailor had been hospitalised or when the Magda P., a bulk carrier owned by Greek shipping company Common Progress with 10 Greek and 14 Filipino crew members aboard, would leave port.
Greece has so far not had any cases of the Ebola virus that is ravaging west Africa.
One of the hospitals in Athens, the Amalia Fleming, recently announced it was equipped to cope with Ebola patients. – AFP
