Father arrested by police on suspicion of abuse and molest

    KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was detained by police on suspicion of abusing and molesting his nine-year-old daughter at the Sungai Besi PPR here recently.
    Kuala Lumpur CID Deputy Chief ACP Khairi Ahrasa said the suspect, 41, was arrested after he lodged a police report regarding his missing daughter while she was being treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
    "The man claimed his daughter had gone missing and that she was last seen last Friday at 11.30am with the neighbour before the report was made on Sunday.
    "Initial investigations revealed that the neighbour had taken the girl to the hospital last Thursday after suspecting she had been abused.
    "Medical examinations found injuries, including a bruises on her left thigh and signs of molest. Following that, a report was lodged and the child's father was arrested," he told reporters.
    Khairi said the suspect was remanded for five days and the case was being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 354 of the Penal Code – Bernama
