BAYAN LEPAS: The newly opened Fuji Xerox branch near here yesterday is an indication of Malaysia and Fuji's steady growth in business said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
According to Lim, Fuji Xerox is poised to serve a greater number of Malaysian businesses based in Penang particularly those in the Penang Free Trade Zone, Batu Maung and Batu Kawan.
"I have no doubt that businesses in these areas stand to benefit from Fuji Xerox's second to none services," he said in his opening speech at the officiating ceremony of the Fuji Xerox office.
Lim said the growth of Fuji Xerox in Penang is also reflection of the state's economic growth.
"Through this parallel, one thing evident to me is through good work and clean ethics, strong leadership, integrity and support from the community we are able to achieve great things," he said.
Fuji Xerox president Yoshio Hanada meanwhile said he expected the company to expand its business particularly in manufacturing and healthcare centres in Penang by generating RM8 million sales revenue by the end of a fiscal year.
"The opening of this office in a strategic location will give us greater accessibility to our customers especially in these areas.
Fuji Xerox started its operation in Malaysia since 1962 and now it has six branch offices and four service centres with more than 700 full-time staff.
Currently it has more than 20 dealers operating all over Malaysia.
The existing Penang branch office in Lebuh Pantai has been in operation since 1993 with 20 staff.
