KUALA LUMPUR: Undergraduates should not be fooled by opposition lies but should think in a rational manner to pursue the national transformation agenda.
Umno Education Bureau chairman Tan Sri Prof Dr Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah said undergraduates should be wise in judging postings made by the opposition via social media.
"Undergraduates have the right to read but they should know that the new media does not provide 100% accurate facts. Over 50% is negative view not based on facts.
"Don't be easily influenced by opposition propaganda," he told the National Undergraduates Leadership Conference 2014 (Pemanas) at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here, today.
The Umno Supreme Council member said the social media has managed to brainwash the minds of undergraduates (youths) who easily believed the opposition postings.
"Youths must be able to judge the good and the bad before making perceptions and conclusions. They must get accurate news and information from reliable sources."
Ibrahim Shah said the opposition strategy was to reduce Malay support for Umno by influencing youths with perceptions and propaganda to divide the Malays.
"Youths must realise that Umno is the only party capable of safeguarding their future wellbeing and maintain political stability in this country.
"When we (Malays) are not united, it will weaken and destroy our power. If non-Muslims rule, they will oppress the Muslims. Instead, when Muslims rule this country, the welfare of other races is ensured," he said
Pemanas is a collaborative effort of the Umno Overseas Club and the Umno Education Bureau to make the voice of youths heard in the Umno general ssembly. – Bernama
