Selangor approves 153 projects worth RM4.58b

SHAH ALAM: Selangor state government has approved 153 projects valued at RM4.58 billion which is expected to create 9,659 job opportunities for the state.
Mentri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali (pix) said it is due to the potential investment interest shown both by local and foreign investors who want to invest in the state.
He added RM2.70 billion or 59% are from local investors whereas RM1.88 billion or 41% are from foreign investments.
"(The investments) from the industrial sector has a "multiplying effect" which touches on industries such as housing, commercial, logistic, training centres, health services, food industry and hospitality," he said.
On a separate note, he said, in order to strengthen the investment and industrial sector, the state has re-branded the Selangor State Investment Centre with a new name – Invest Selangor Berhad.
The re-naming exercise is meant to bring a new image for Selangor at the local and international level as the main industrial hub.
Azmin also announced that a total of RM60 million has been invested into Universiti Selangor (Unisel) to create a conducive environment there.
The state also intends to set aside RM10 million a year to fund university students studying in both Unisel and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (Kuis) who live in rural areas and are from families with low income.
