Car bursts into flames, three killed in Perak crash

IPOH: Three people were killed while two others injured when two cars collided at Km69, Jalan Ipoh-Gerik in Kampung Chuar, Kati, Kuala Kangsar today.
The deceased was identified as Safani Hassan, 28, an army personnel attached to the Fourth Battalion Regiment in Gerik. He was the driver of one of the cars involved which exploded into flames due to the impact of the crash in the 1.10am incident.
The other driver, Mohd Aminnuddin Mohd Hashim, 57, from Kampung Chepor, Lenggong and his front passenger Hanita Ariffin, 46, from Kampung Sri Wangi Simpang Lawin, Kuala Kangsar died at the scene of the accident.
The bodies were sent to the Kuala Kangsar hospital for post mortem.
Two other passengers seated in Mohd Aminnuddin's car, Razali Yaakub from Kampung Chepor, Lenggong and another unidentified woman sustained serious injuries. They have been admitted at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun hospital here.
Kuala Kangsar district police chief ACP Ghuzlan Salleh said initial investigations revealed that Safani, who was travelling from Kuala Kangsar to Lenggong, had collided with the on-coming car while trying to overtake some vehicles.
