KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said the Sedition Act 1948 is maintained with a proposal to include two special provisions to strengthen the act.
The Umno President also said the two special provisions aimed to preserve the sanctity of Islam and all other religions and to prosecute those who called for the separation of Sabah and Sarawak from Malaysia.
"We will include special provisions to preserve the sanctity of Islam as well as other religions.
"This is so that action can be taken on anyone calling for the separation of Sabah and Sarawak from Malaysia," he said when delivering his policy speech at the Umno General Assembly 2014 at the Putra World Trade Centre here today.
His stand on the matter was lauded and cheered by 2,752 delegates who supported the decision made by the president of the biggest Malay party. – Bernama
