Fruit-infusing, filter-equipped bottle in the works

THE team that reinvented the water bottle by squaring the edges and adding a screw-off bottom for easy cleaning has launched a crowdfunding campaign for the 2.0 version of the Square.
The next-generation Square comes with two removable accessories, a filter and a fruit infuser to add taste to water using fresh fruit, avoiding the additives in many fruit juices bought in stores.
Parent company Clean Bottle has created a line of dried fruit infusion packets for when fresh fruit isn't available. Called Bloom Infusion Pods, the flavor blends include Cherry Lemon and Apple Raspberry.
The new Square is 25% bigger than its predecessor and made of BPA-free Triton plastic rather than stainless steel.
It's also 70% cheaper and it can currently be pre-ordered for US$15, shipping anywhere in the world for an additional cost of US$15. Delivery is expected for April.
A US$20 pre-order package includes the bottle and the accessory of your choice and for US$22 it's possible to pre-order the bottle with both accessories.
The original Square won a Red Dot Design Award and was featured on the cover of Wired magazine.
The new version has overtaken its US$30,000 funding goal with 14 days to go.
Another popular bottle that's earned praise from users is the S'well bottle. Made of high-grade stainless steel, it's insulated so that drinks stay cold for 24 hours and hot for 12 with no exterior condensation.
Entirely customisable, it comes in endless colors and patterns and three sizes – 9oz, 17oz and 25oz – for US$25-US$45. – Bang Media
