KUALA LUMPUR: The video clip on the brutality of militant group, Islamic State (IS), in the Middle East, sent shivers down everyone's spine when it was shown on the last day of the Umno General Assembly 2014 at the Putra World Trade Centre here yesterday.
The video clip, which lasted two minutes and 15 seconds, was shown during the winding up speech by Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pix), who is also Home Minister.
The clip clearly showed a group of IS members dragging several individuals and forcing them to get down on their knees, while holding knives that were believed to be used to slaughter the victims.
"This kind of act should not happen among the world community. Don't let ourselves be influenced by this deviant act which clearly contravenes the teachings of Islam," he said.
Ahmad Zahid also condemned the involvement of certain people in this country in the militant group.
"Look at what they've done. Is this act or this fight permissible in Islam? Look at it and judge for yourselves," he said.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who is also Umno president, recently tweeted that the IS brutality violated the teachings of Islam and the principles of Islamic law.
He also said that Malaysia condemned in the strongest terms the barbarism committed by the IS against Peter Kassig and the Syrian military personnel. – Bernama
