KUALA LUMPUR: The 10th annual meeting of the South East Asia Parties Against Corruption (SEA-PAC), which will begin here tomorrow, has been seen to be able to strengthen cooperation among member countries to fight cross-border corruption more effectively.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (Operation) Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull said SEA-PAC member countries should make optimal use of the meeting to share their ideas and latest experience in fighting corruption.
"The three-day meeting will discuss several matters concerning, among others, prevention and investigation of corruption in private sector, leadership with integrity, and good governance in business community," he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Shukri, who is also the main organising committee chairman, said besides MACC, the meeting would also be attended by representatives of corruption prevention and investigation authorities from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, Philippine, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.
He said the MACC, as the host for this edition of the meeting, would also present a paper on mechanism for the setting up of the Committee On Integrity Governance (CIG) at the federal, state and local authority levels under the supervision of MACC and Prime Minister's Department.
He said the MACC would also share the achievement of the Integrity Unit in fighting corruption in government agencies and government-linked companies in Malaysia.
In promoting SEA-PAC at the international level, he said the SEA-PAC portal, which was developed and managed by MACC, would also be launched on Tuesday.
